A great sport fish were spot casting or trolling can produce fish from 1lb - 25lb. Not an eating species - but well worth it on capture & release.
Northern Bluefin Tuna
They fisht well and go 6lb - 40lb in size. They travel in schools which chop up the waters surface whilst chasing bait fish. An exciting experience for any angler - but they don't taste the best.
Cobia/Black Kingfish
These powerful torpedo's can go to 30lbs. One of FCBA's 'Pete Medhurst' very favourite table fish & if he's on the trip with you ... its number 1 priority for dinner that evening.
Norwest Snapper
These fellows can be caught bottom bouncing or from the island coves. They taste great fresh and range in size from 1 - 3kgs
Yellow Emperor
Another taste sensation generally found north of the Tropic of Capricorn. Good Fighters for their size which is normally 1 - 3kgs.
Mackerel Tuna
They really aren't much chop to eat, but they are awesome to catch especially when you see the school cutting through the baitfish. They go 2kgs - 6kgs and very occasionally bigger.
Tropical Crayfish
They are tricky to catch - but this trip should find a few with perhaps a 'Crayfish Surf & Turf' served on a big T-Bone a meal to look forward to. These Crays go 1kg - 5 kg in size and are available to snorklers.
Red Emperor
'Top of The Table'. This No 1 prized northern aussie species will peel line of any reel and put a big thumping bend in any 6 - 8 kg stick. Size ranges from 2kgs to 12 kg thumpers in remote locations.
Wahoo
Another toothy critter. Hunted in the northern oceans they are a true fighting sport & game fish of epic size & strength. Their eating qualities are questionable and they weigh 3kgs - 30kgs.
Spanish Mackerel
These toothy critters hunt the northern oceans for baitfish and hard bodied lures. They are a true fighting sport fish that will run you ragged. Their eating qualities are questionable but loved by some and they weigh 3kgs - 20kgs.
Sailfish
An Australian sportfishing icon. Most location concentrate on catch & re-lease which is about all an angler can do after fighting & tussling with these massive aerial masters. They range in size from 20lb – 80lb+.
Marlin
Blue - Big air movers. These goliathans are aerial freaks. BIG TACKLE & BIG BOATS. A great catch & re-lease species. They can weigh in at over 1000lbs.
GT
Fantastic & Powerful Fighting Fish. They don't taste to flash but your shoulders will know about it the next day after fighting a school of these bruts. 6lb - 30lb.
Golden Trevelly
Another powerful sports fish. Poor tackle will be destroyed by these bulldozers. 4lb - 25lb.
Flower Cod
Many are caught in the northern oceans with the bigger specimens spooling light tackle anglers. They are tasty to eat and range from estuary rats of 1lb to 40lb+ monsters.
Coral Trout
One of Australia's absolute top of the table eating species and one of the prettiest as well. They fight like caged lions and the big ones are Trophy Fish in anyones language. Size range 1kg - 5kgs.
